Our vision has always been about what it means to care for our neighbour as we do ourselves. In our families and local communities, on a national platform and at a world-wide level we are confronted with the call to care for ourselves, others and our planet.

I have a tree in my back garden that was ‘not well’ according to the horticulturalist who came to visit me several months ago. I thought it a spectacular tree - it had glossy leaves, and sometimes flowers. It has the fancy name of a Port Wine Magnolia, though if you know this species you will know that you have to look hard to see the purple flowers. The harsh prognosis from the gardener was ”It has scale and needs to be severely pruned before I can do anything about it.” I was horrified!.....

It is time for an update about the transformation process for the church in Australia. I have been hearing through the grape vine that some people have questions and some have concerns around what has been happening.

My mind has been caught up with the imagery contained in the following scripture from Jeremiah 18.  The scripture tells us that Jeremiah was invited by the Lord to go down to the potter’s house, and he would be given a message.

I don’t know about you but when I’m attempting to explain about church to people who haven’t heard of Community of Christ, these days I  include in my explanation the word ‘progressive.’ Very broadly speaking Progressive christianity is characterised  ‘by a willingness to question tradition, acceptance of human diversity, a strong emphasis on social justice and care for the poor and the oppressed, and environmental stewardship of the earth.’ 

      My thoughts on this important theme have come from an article written by Ramon J. Canals recorded in the March 2023 issue of the magazine Ministry.

As a prophetic people, Community of Christ has entered into an intentional time of discernment for naming the next prophet-president.

Within this humdrum world we live in, I have found that sometimes it becomes very difficult to get away from everything that is going on and spend some time with God.  I ask myself why is this so?  There always seems to be something occurring in my life that distracts me from getting away by myself and being with God.  I’m sure everyone can relate to my experience.
