But you'll never guess what happens next!

On Sunday 18th February at 1pm please join us as we gather Online as an Australia Mission to share our hope for the future. We will look back and honour the past 150 years in a visual presentation, hear and discuss about the new leadership structure concept that will carry our Australian church forward and share in considering two new priesthood calls; Annie Faulke to the office of Elder and Libby Torus to the office of deacon. There is also a last minute resolution that we will be voting on. We will share more information about this resolution in the next coming days. To register or for zoom link to the meeting see below.

You probably know the story of a man walking along a beach with Christ. As he looked back over his life the man could see two sets of footprints in the sand. One belonged to the man and the other to Christ. However at certain times in his life there was only one set of footprints. As the man enquired of Christ why this was he heard the whisper “My precious child, I love you and will never leave you. When you saw only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.”

But you’ll never guess what happens next! Just as he wondered how long Christ could carry him, he spied a bird soaring above on the sea breeze and his heart took flight in hope. For hope is not something you find sitting at home. It is an eagle that senses the currents. He felt the momentum, felt lifted up and propelled. He gave himself to the future and he flew on eagle wings.

As Rebecca Solnit says “Hope is not a lottery ticket you can sit on the sofa and clutch, feeling lucky. it is an axe you break down doors with in an emergency. Hope should shove you out the door, because it will take everything you have to steer the future away from endless war, from the annihilation of the earth’s treasures and the grinding down of the poor and marginal… To hope is to give yourself to the future - and that commitment to the future is what makes the present inhabitable.”
