Nominations Sought for Human Rights Award

The Human Rights Team is receiving nominations for the 2025 World Conference presentation of the International Human Rights Award for Service to Humanity.

The award, created in 1992 by Community of Christ, was approved as World Conference Resolution 1228. It recognizes individuals at the forefront of organizations and causes who work to alleviate human suffering and support human rights. The Community of Christ International Human Rights Award is presented at each World Conference to at least two people. The Human Rights Team asks help to recognize these important individuals.

Any member or friend of Community of Christ or its affiliates (Outreach International, Graceland University, etc.), who is defined by one or more of the descriptions here may be nominated.

Criteria for nominating a person:

Demonstrates a sustained commitment or exceptional service in one or more areas of human rights:

• Enhances life through adequate nourishment (food).

• Ensures safety and nurturing relationships.

• Fosters access to education and possibilities for human development.

• Provides work (economic opportunity).

• Enables access to health and healthcare.

• Supports liberty (freedom and responsibility).

Works in the forefront of causes or movements to alleviate suffering and promote human rights.

Stimulates change within a community outside the church—on a local, national, or international level—to alleviate suffering and promote human rights.

Facilitates change of church policy, hymnody, curriculum theology, or other area in pursuit of human rights.
