In her recent article in the Australia Herald Green Cathedral Ministries Co-Pastor, Wendy Ballard, shared on the experience of the 80 year celebration for the Green Cathedral, saying: "A simple celebration, as it was back in 1940, but nonetheless a good spirit was felt as we honoured our past, our present, and looked forward with anticipation to what is yet to be.”

As we look back on the history of this special place; Mission Centre Historian, Margaret Morris, shares an article written by Geoffrey Gillard in 1940.
This piece, originally published in The Standard, speaks of the work that went in to selecting and creating the site - such that the place "Surrounded entirely by the shapely palms for which Tiona is so justly renowned....... is a gem of beauty – a sanctuary hallowed by the loveliness of its natural setting."
