Connection, Reflection and Envisioning at Tiona Chapel

This week, 12 Misson Centre employees and two volunteer staff, Rick Sarre and Peter Lonsdale, along with two of our newest staff members Senior HR Officer Karen Dunbar and Financial Manager Rebecca Lo gathered at Tiona Chapel for five days of connection, reflection, planning and envisioning. As a team spread across remote locations, this time together was invaluable. It provided us with the chance to connect face-to-face and renew our sense of purpose.

We shared updates on the various ministries around the Mission Centre and the activities in each congregation. We reflected on the needs of different groups around Australia and developed a plan to support ministry and mission in 2025. In a season of uncertainty and waiting, our time together offered a sense of direction and unity.

Having just celebrated the official opening of the Tiona Chapel, we were filled with optimism and ideas as we considered the ministries that may flow from this new facility. Mel Ballard, our Tiona Booking Manager, joined us for a rich discussion about the ways in which the Green Cathedral and Tiona Chapel will work in tandem to boost both commercial and community outcomes.

We explored psychosocial safety and well-being, both in the workplace and for our ministry volunteers, priesthood, and members.

Sustainability and succession were at the forefront of our discussions, guiding us as we planned for the future and explored ways to foster a healthy, sustainable Mission Centre.

The insights gained and connections made will help shape our ministries as we journey into 2025 together with renewed purpose and unity.
