Volunteer Grants 2011

In 2010 Saints Care received $19,161 as part of the Australian governments volunteer grants programme. Compassionate community programmes supported by volunteers in Bendigo, Guildford, Johns River, Rosanna, Tuncurry and Wingham congregations made successful application for a variety of items that have helped support volunteers.

Now again in 2011 the Australian Government (Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs) is seeking applications for grant monies to assist volunteers whose work directly benefits Australian communities.

The purpose of the grants is to support volunteers and encourage volunteering

Volunteer Grants 2011 recognises the important role of Australia’s volunteers and is part of the Government’s ongoing commitment to supporting volunteers, assisting disadvantaged communities and encouraging social inclusion to assist vulnerable individuals, families and communities.

Volunteer Grants 2011 provides funding of between $1,000 and $5,000 to not-for-profit organisations to:

  • Purchase portable, tangible, small equipment items to help volunteers
  • Contribute to the reimbursement of fuel costs for their volunteers who use their own car to transport others to activities, deliver food and assist people in need
  • Contribute to the reimbursement of transport costs incurred by volunteers with disability who are unable to drive
  • Contribute to the costs of training courses and/or undertake background screening checks for volunteers.

The closing date for applications is 8 June 2011.

To apply for a grant, please read the application guidelines and then speak to mission leadership about making an application on behalf of the congregation.
