Saints Care Ltd

Community of Christ is dedicated to the pursuit of peace, reconciliation, and healing of the spirit.

The church has long sought to build community and establish a peaceable world. To this end, Community of Christ in Australia established Saints Care Ltd, a non-profit company that supports the church’s objectives through organized compassionate ministries and justice action. In essence, Saints Care is the benevolent arm of the Community of Christ.

Saints Care’s vision is to help create a world that is just and peaceful, where people live in healthy families and strong communities, feel wholeness and find meaning.

The ministries of Saints Care are founded in the belief that serving God by serving the poor, the broken-hearted, and the oppressed, is the essence of Christian discipleship.

At present there are five divisions of Saints Care, namely:

1. Oblation Aid
2. Independent Accommodation
3. Community Centres
4. Youth Support Services
5. Congregational Compassionate Ministries

Oblation Aid
Through local leadership and in association with the Australia church, congregations provide families and individuals in immediate need with financial support through oblation ministry.

Independent Accommodation
Elderly community members as well as those on welfare are supported through affordable accommodation at various locations across Australia. These are all self-care units.

Community Centers
The Homestead, Kingsley, Western Australia, has been managed by Saints Care since 1999. The range of services includes support and interest groups, social events, counselling services and health and educational courses

Youth Support Services
Northern Sydney Youth Support Service (NSYSS)
NSYSS, based in Ryde, New South Wales, was established in 2000. The service provides supported medium term accommodation, referral, advocacy, case management, counselling, and a variety of programs in cooperation with other community service providers.

The Hills Youth Support Service, Castle Hill, New South Wales, is modeled on NSYSS and extends the services currently available to a wider geographic area of northern Sydney. Saints Care undertook the management of this service in June 2003.

The Hills Youth Brokerage Program
The Hills Youth Brokerage Program is a special project funded by the NSW Government and the service operates out of the Saints Care Castle Hill office. The Brokerage program is aimed at accessing goods and services for young people aged 15 – 21 years who have a connection to the Baulkham Hills area of Sydney, and are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

Congregational Compassionate Ministries
Congregational Compassionate Ministries support the church’s mission and are varied, individually created by congregations to respond to their local community’s unique needs.

However, all congregational compassionate ministries seek common outcomes, including: service of human needs; healthy families; personal wholeness and meaning; and strong communities of joy, hope, love and peace. They demonstrate understanding and commitment to Saints Care values of compassion, empowerment, integrity, community, professionalism, and the worth of all persons.
